... that was all I was able to tell the doctor when I became worried enough about it, and the discomfort and sometimes pain, to go and see him. That was in 1984. He advised that I might like to think about circumcision. Well, to be perfectly honest, no, I wouldn't!! I did not have the wits or guts to tell him I didn't understand why he was advising considering circumcision, and my fears about it. I did not have the language or confidence then say, "look, hang on a minute, I'm not too happy about this. As far as I can see the phimotic ring slides over the glans just about ok but it then feels tight with the little band of skin underneath and is somehow stuck and tight underneath, and is painful if/when stretching/retracting further. Can't you do anything about that, without having to circumcise the whole foreskin?".
With these kinds of conditions/symptoms/signs, it would be interesting to know what it's like going to the doctor in 2016, and how comfortable one feels about the advice, and then what to do about it...

In different countries the service is different (in germany you wait 2 weeks and frenulum breve is operated without circ.) but I would be very suprised if anything has changed in the UK. Around 2005 Nick (pinhole phimosis and frenulum breve) wrote to me from the UK .. after a years wait for the NHS he paid 2,000 as a private patient. www.phimosis.cloud/passages/free at last.html The pinhole phimosis was obviously from birth, so the doctors might have saved a lot of bother if they had advised him to stretch it during the long wait ...
