I am the mother of a young 20 something with phimosis - but I just found out about his medical condition. It was identified when he was 6 years old but I was told that things would loosen up over time around the time of puberty, and everything would be fine. I just assumed it did, and the topic never came up until now.
During a conversation I initiated about the importance of birth control, I have learned that my son cannot ejaculate with his girlfriend due to pain, although everything works well enough to please her. He has never discussed this with a medical provider - and didn't seem receptive when I suggested it.
I think it is important that he at least get educated and learn about his options. Ideally, I would like him to have a fantastic sex life. Is this possible if it is untreated? How about after treatment? From a more philosophical perspective, should I even be having this discussion with my adult son?
